Prepeare the meat!
Fist up is the ribs. Place the ribs into a large bowl that can hold all the pieces comfortably. Fill the bowl with enough water to completely submerge the ribs. Add two capfuls of white vinegar and let the ribs soak until white residue (excess fat) appears at the surface. Discard the water, rinse the ribs with fresh water, and drain well.
Season the ribs with the measured ingredients listed above: salt, garlic powder, oregano, Italian seasoning, thyme, and crushed pepper.
Next, you will prep the ham. Cut the ham into small, bite-sized chunks, removing any excess fat.Rinse the ham with water and let it sit while you prepare the other ingredients. Simple enough right?
The last stage of prep will be the split peas. Empty the bag of split peas into a bowl. Then cover them with water and let them sit while you prepare the crockpot! :D
Drain the soaked split peas and add them to the crockpot. Next pour in the box of CHICKEN BROTH! Set the crock pot on low and allow to cook for about two to two and a half hours to allow the peas to become mushy.
After the allotted two hours follow up with the ribs and ham, then the onions and celery. Make sure to give it a good stir. Coating the meat with the split peas puree. Set the crock pot to high and cover. Let it sit for about three hours.
Add in the carrots and corn for the last 30 minutes. This willlhelp round out the meal making it more filling to the tummy.
